Tinman maintenance notes

To close down the instrument safely:

From the terminal running climchxxx.py type control+c. This will interrupt the program so it closes down safely.

If you are in a different terminal (meaning you cannot see the program output to screen) type:
ps -ax

This will show all the processes. Find the process number for python climch.... which is, for example 3572

type:
kill 3572

This will NOT close the program safely, so you should then type:
./climch_i.py

wait for it to return a prompt: your command... then type x

This will close down the instrument safely.

In the chamber:

Before doing maintenance which involves much restarting of the program, disconnect the peltier leads at the two-connector plug (the peltier leads are the thick red and red/black leads).

Before re-connecting, test for high resistance (at least 1 Mohm) between the peltier terminals on the weighing device and the metal parts of the system. Then test for a fairly low resistance, maybe 15 ohm, across the peltier terminals at the end of the thin steel conductor strips.
